New Discrimination Laws

On 1st December 2003, new laws were set in place to prevent discrimination in the workplace. These are focused on discouraging discrimantion on the grounds of sexual orientation and religion in matters of employment and training. The laws implement the European Employment Directive.
 
The Directive will also amend the Disability Discrimination Act in 2004. Further legislation will be implemented in 2006 aimed at preventing discrimination on the grounds of age.

• Disability Discrimination Act 1995
 
• Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992
 
• Equal Pay Act 1984
 
• Race Relation Act 1976 and Race Relation Amendment Act 2000
